The boat runs are much shorter than the 36-60 hr trips. Granted you'll probably only catch blackfin tuna vs the bigger yellowfin but its a good way to learn. Pull the solid into the hollow 3' and pull a foot of Solid out the side wall at the end of the splice. This isn't needed for strength but is used to form a safety.
